Monday · October 26, 2026 · Issue #[NUMBER]
Google made its small business move this week.
On October 20, it turned the Gemini app into a home base for small business owners: your brand, your numbers, and your customers in one place, connected to the apps you already use. If you've been paying for a pile of separate AI tools, the obvious question is whether Google just replaced them. Here's our honest take.

Google wants to be your all-in-one AI. Is it enough?
What Google added to the Gemini app:
A business home page to build your brand, look at your finances and review customer insights.
Connected apps: Google Business Profile, Google Ads and Workspace, plus Shopify, Canva, Xero and Wix.
On-brand marketing visuals: upload your website, brand kit, fonts or colors, and new images match your style.
Financial insights: spreadsheets, receipts and purchase records turned into charts you can explore.
It's rolling out globally to all Gemini app users over the coming days. Google hasn't announced pricing for the new features.

⬡ Our Take
It's probably enough if…
You already run on Google Workspace, and what you mostly need is marketing visuals and a clearer view of your numbers. Try it before you buy a separate design or reporting tool.
Look harder if…
Your real bottleneck is missed calls, lead follow-up, quotes and invoicing, or anything involving patient or client data. Before you cancel what you have, check whether Gemini actually handles that job, and how it treats sensitive data.
Either way…
Run it through the same test as any other tool: what bottleneck does it fix, who on your team owns it, and what number will tell you in 90 days whether it's working? A free all-in-one is only a deal if it moves that number.

Claude Duet: AI that checks in on its own
Anthropic · Research preview · Waitlist, US Pro & Max plans
Instead of waiting for you to ask, Duet sends a morning brief from your connected apps, checks in every few hours, and messages you only when something needs you. Before it sends a message, makes a payment or deletes anything, it asks for your approval.
Our take: worth joining the waitlist if your day lives in your inbox. It's an early preview, Anthropic says it can still misjudge what's urgent, and its check-ins count against your plan's usage limits. Keep an eye on client follow-ups yourself for now.

ChatGPT now locks private chats
OpenAI · Rolling out to Free through Enterprise plans
You can hide a conversation behind a four-digit PIN or Face ID. Locked chats move out of your regular history and search, which helps when you share your screen in a client meeting.
Our take: it's a privacy screen, not a vault. It isn't encryption, and it doesn't change how long OpenAI keeps your chats or your model-training setting. Forget the PIN and resetting it deletes every locked chat. Still keep client data out unless your plan covers it.

⬡ Quick Tip
Stop pasting passwords into AI chats.
As AI assistants start signing in to sites for you, keep the password out of the conversation. On a Mac, 1Password's Claude integration lets Claude log in with your saved credentials without ever seeing them, and you approve each request with your fingerprint or face. Anthropic says the same sign-in is coming to Duet.
